It seems as if we have been stuck at home forever. What is the point of living in such a beautiful city if you can’t even go out and enjoy it? Well, with lessening COVID-19 restrictions, it seems that now is the time to go back out there and explore all the great places Chicago has to offer. Whether you are a resident, a tourist, or hopeful of visiting the city in the near future, I have compiled a list of my favorite places to visit. If you are a fan of art, enjoy spending time outdoors, or are simply interested in an Instagram-worthy photo shoot, there is bound to be at least one place you’ll enjoy.

If you’re an art aficionado, you may be interested in visiting some of the world-class museums based in Chicago. The Art Institute of Chicago houses many renowned works from some impressive artists. Are you a fan of classical ancient art? Well, perhaps the Oriental Institute Museum located at the University of Chicago’s campus might draw you in with their impressive ancient Egyptian works and artifacts (they even have a mummy). You can also attempt scoring tickets to the Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit which is exactly as the name states. However, if you are looking for a more “Insta-worthy” experience, the WNDR Museum features trippy exhibits as well as Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama’s Mirror Room.

Aside from all of the incredible art, don’t forget to visit the impressive Grant Park located in the downtown area. The enormous park houses one of the world’s largest music festivals, Lollapalooza, every year as well as the Taste of Chicago for all you foodies out there. The beautiful Buckingham Fountain is also hard to miss!

If that’s not enough for you, check out the Adler Planetarium or the Shedd Aquarium, both centered in the Museum Campus of Northerly Island. Additionally, if you’re a Marvel Comics fan, why not check out the Marvel exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry?

There is much to do in Chicago right now. With summer just around the corner, start planning what places you’ll be spending your free time at.
